Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us（日本語版）
何となく訳してみました。

Text is linear
テキスト（文章）は連続体（リニア）である。
Text is unilinear
テキストは単線的（ユニリニア）である。
Text is said to be unilinear
テキストは、単線的だと言われている。

Text which written on paper is unilinear.

Digital text is different
デジタルテキストは、そうではない。
Digital text is more flexible.
デジタルテキストは、より柔軟性がある（フレキシブルである）。
Digital text is moveable.

Digital text is above all ... hyper.
デジタルテキストは、何しろ、ヤバい（ハイパーだ）。

Most early websites were written in HTML.
初期のウェブサイトはHTMLで書かれていた。
HTML was designed to define the structure of a web document.
HTMLはウェブドキュメントの構造を定義するためにデザインされた。
<p> is a structural element referring to "paragraph"
<p>は「段落」を意味する構造的要素である。
<li> is also a structral element referring to "list Item"
<li>もまた「リスト・アイテム」を意味する構造的要素である。
As HTML expanded, more elements were added.
HTMLが拡張されて、より多くの要素が追加された。
Including stylistic elements like <b> for bold and ⁢i> for italics
ボールド（太字）を意味する<b>やイタリック（斜体）を意味するスタイルの要素を含んだ。
Such elements defined how content would be formatted.
それらの要素はどのようにコンテンツ（内容）がフォーマット（構成）されるかを定義した。
In other words, form and content became inseparable in HTML.
つまり、フォーム（外形）とコンテンツ（内容）はHTMLでは不可分である。

Digital text can do better.
デジタルテキストはもっと良いことができる。
Form and content can be separated.
フォームとコンテンツは、分離することができる。

<title> does not define the form.
<title>+はフォーム（外形）を定義してるわけではない。これはコンテンツ（内容）を定義している。

and virtually all other elements in this document.
そしてバーチャルにこのドキュメント全体の他の要素も（定義している）。
They describe the content, not the form.
これらはコンテンツ（内容）を記述していて、フォーム（外形）ではない。
So the data can be exported,

free of formatting constraints.
