Isley

As listening recent hiphop beats, it seems to forgot a chillin' groove which used to be taken good care of.
I look back on 90's listening to Iseley's "The Highway of My life" [iTMS US].

A Cassette Tape is broken

Getting my newbeetle from a mentenance, I tried to listen a cassette tape on a stereo after a long time.
But, a song didn't start... Dammn, the tape was broken.

I couldn't listen a TLC's album [Amazon JP], Then I tried another cassette tape of this MTV hits [amazon jp]. It was pretty nice. I like Aaliyah's "Are you that somebody?". I feel it's strange beat when I listen it at first time. But I like the flava of Timbaland. When Timbaland's beats came to Japan, it was called "Hentai-Chikichiki beat" on pop-ads of Towerrecords or so, ha.

Crystal Kay: Eternal Memories

As I got a trouble on my digital camera, it is so bad that I can't use a photo on the blog now.

I am listening to Crystal Kay [Amazon JP]'s first single for Just chilling.
When she debut, she was only 12?
She is a good Korean/American R&B diva in Japan. unfortunately her label is sony, so it isn't sold on iTMS.
Amerie [iTMS US]is also Korean/American singer but in US, right? I got her bootleg remix on 12inch.

Tatsuro Yamashita feat. Ryo from Ketsumeishi

Today, I was so busy and working hard in my room all day long listening to FM Yokohama. A good new number have been played so many times on the radio. It has nice flow, nice sound...
The song was "Kiss kara hajimaru Mistery" [amazon JP] by a veteran singer Tatsuro Yamashita feat. Ryo from a popular rap group Ketsumeishi [Amazon JP]. Tatsuro's soft vocal and Ryo's singing-like flow are matching.
We saw this kinds of interesting collaboration manytimes recentry.

I heard Teriyaki Boys are going to debut in fall. This unit is a project by Nigo for Bathing Ape, inviting Verbal from M-flo [Amazon JP], Ryo-z and Ilmari from Rip Slyme [Amazon JP], Wise from BapeRecordings. Presession is recorded on BApeSounds [Amazon JP] and the new album:"Beef or Chicken" [Amazon Jp] is from DefJam Brand.

iPod Nano at Apple Store Shibuya

As a new series of iPod named iPod Nano was introduced this morning, I would like to review this at the drop of a hat.
So, I am coming to Apple Store Shibuya, but...

Dammmn, It is already closed... No wonder, It's 0 AM.
However, The shop is blinked on. Then... Look!!!

Finally I found it!

This is a Real iPod Nano, man! Not a copied GIF images!

... Sorry. Let's check Apple's website to know the detail.
It tells that iPod Nano has 4 variations; white and black color, 2GB and 4GB.
It is 21800yen(2GB) and 27800yen(4GB) in Japan.
It also has a color LCD, photo functions. Why was the first iPod photo such expencive?

It was pointed out that a small click-wheel of iPod mini does not fit a palm. Nano is smaller, as the name indicate. How is it?

I like black one. But I don't need it, because I'm still using a 2nd-Gen iPod (10G) and I am still satisfied with it. I will think to buy new one when Video is enabled on iPod.

Talib Kweli "Get By Remix"

This remix is gourgeous! Talib Kweli's most popular song "Get By" [iTMS US] has another remix. It is produced by Kanye West, Featring Jay-z, Snoop and Busta.
But I think this version is promo only. The best way to listen this version is to request yor nearest radio station. It was too gourgeous to clear the rights, wasn't it?

M-flo "Been So Long"

M-flo "Been So Long" [iTMS JP]
M-flo is a popular unit in Japan; a rapper Verbal and DJ Taku, now their new album is No.1 on the iTMS chart. This song "Been so long" was a first smash hit of M-flo in '99.
They were still in the indies scene at that time. I remember a rapping style of Verbal was striking when I heard that first.
As many Japanese "club-based" musicians do, a genre of m-flo's beats is mixed, then they succeed to expand into the pops market.
However, their stractures of compose and business are influenced by Hiphop method, actually.

If you like this song, You may like this song too.
Around the way "Really Into You" [Amazon JP]
It has a same flava as "been so long". This song was NOT popular in US AT ALL. However, it got a heavy rotation for long time at FM stations in TOkyo. I think Japanese really likes a melodias track of "Just the two of us" [Amazon US].

Donell Jones "U Know What's Up"

Today I digitalized one of my favorite song.
Donell Jones "U Know What's Up"[iTMS US] feat Left Eye.
How time flies! It is 6 years ago when this song released.

Sound Studio is useful to take 12inchs into iTunes.

Songs of Sony's label are going to be lounched on iTMS Japan.

[Yomiuri News (in Japanese)]
Finally Sony decided to supply songs holded by their label to iTMS in Japan.
Sony has other download services in Japan [Labelgate] and tried to enlock customers, however it is still not useful enough to dominate the market. It also have been expected that they oppressed to join in iTMS because of the battle between iPod and Walkman.
Anyway, as I choosed iPods for my portable player, I'm glad to get Sony's songs at iTMS. I don't care which label an artist contracted, I don't change my portable player till it will be bloken or more useful one will appear, neither.

Some Japanese artist also started to sell their songs world widely under Apple's label.
It will result in major changes in power relationships of music industory over borders.

SDP v.s. DenkiGroove

When I was gettin on a bus, I got a cellphone mail from Aya. She said that recently she rent a CD of "SDP v.s. DenkiGroove" [Amazon JP].
At that time, I was just listening to a track of the album on my iPod.
It's kinda Psychic!

SDP (Scha Dara Parr) [iTMS JP] is a hiphop group representing the Japanese Hiphop scene in early '90s and still popular among headz.
On the other hand, Denki Groove is a common Techno band since '90s.
Finally they get collaborated. Lyrics are funny and same as their style in '90s.
It is good Techno-Pop even after Electro-Hiphop.

Old Skool New Flava: DJ Premier "When I B on Da Mic"

I was listening to Rakim's "When I B on da mic" [iTMS US].
I bought this song on iTMS recentry. It is fresh now in '05 to listen to DJ Premier's tracks.
His chopping sound is simple but strong.

Ijeoma 12inch

As I lost my digital camera in HongKong, I bought new one...
I choose same Pentax as I lost but OptioX.
It is nice, I will report manything on this blog with this camera.
I got it at Bic Camera in Shibuya. So I go by Record sores in Shibuya; Homebass Records and DMR.

Recentry, I don't buy analog 12inchs. It's because I can get same song with 1/10 of price at iTunes Music Store! (One 12inch single costs about 1200 yen=11USD) I still can not scratch on MP3, but the song archive is also important for DJs. So my collection is swelling in my PowerBook.
However sometimes I buy Analogs when it is rare tracks only published on promotional or bootleg copys.

Today I bought Ijeoma's new promo "Stand Tall". I think she is a new singer from the UK indies scene. I couldn't find any infomation on the web yet. (Sept.8, I found a track listening here) The remix has a nice hiphop Soul beat. It's not like an American sound, it's a chilling sound like a song pushed by J-wave Radio. Original has a same sampling roop as Christina Milian's "Spending Time" [iTMS JP] and Sweet Sabel Old Time's Sake[Amazon US].
